Contrast Between Brands of Auto Diagnostic Tools

AUTEL

Established in 2004, Autel has been deeply involved in the global automotive intelligent diagnosis and testing field for more than ten years and has built three product lines including automotive diagnostic products, TPMS series for automotive tire pressure monitoring systems and ADAS series for automotive intelligent assisted driving systems.

Compared to other brands such Launch, Thinkcar and OBDSTAR, Autel has arguably smaller product range considering that their products are exclusive to passenger vehicles. Their core technology system is highly condensed into five major core systems: automotive diagnostics – specific operating system, automotive diagnostic communication system, intelligent simulation analysis system, intelligent diagnostic expert system, and cloud platform maintenance information system.

One of Autel’s best seller is Autel MX808 a professional diagnostic scanning tool which is compatible to 80 plus car brands on the market. This product can perform both basic and professional tasks such as full vehicle diagnostic as well as live code reading and clearing functions.

Bosch

Robert Bosch GmbH, commonly known as Bosch and stylized as BOSCH, is a German multinational engineering and technology company headquartered in Gerlingen, Germany with vast product line in various fields ranging from household appliances, power tools, to aftermarket automotive parts and equipment.

Some of their most successful products consist of a range of power tools such as grinders, drills, impact tools to name a few. It is however important to note that when it comes to diagnostic tools, Bosch scanners technology hasn’t evolved quite as much compared to its rivals. In a way this has therefore negatively impacted their diagnostic products functionality, capabilities as well as vehicle coverage.

One of Borsch’s latest mid-level diagnostic scanners, the KTS350 has limited functionality compared to its rivals THINKCAR, LAUNCH, OBDSTAR etc.

OBDStar

OBDSTAR Technology Co. Ltd a high-tech enterprise engaged in R&D, production and marketing of the automobile and motorcycle, personal watercraft (PWC) & outboard electronic equipment, including IMMO, odometer recalibration, diagnosis, airbag reset, oil service reset and testing tools.

Although OBDSTAR may be considered new in the industry as compared to Launch, it is essential to note that their diagnostic product range is wide with high-quality products, technology and service for auto & motorcycle & marine aftermarket field. Most brands focus on car and truck diagnostic tools but goes an extra mile with motorcycle and marine diagnostics.

Some of OBIDSTAR’s best-selling since its establishment include X-100PRO, X300M, Key Master, Key Master 5, Odo Master, Key Master DP Plus in car IMMO and odometer recalibration, MS80, MS70, MS50 in motorcycle & marine diagnosis.

Thinkcar

Thinkcar Technology Co Ltd. relatively new in the industry, was established in 2018, with a pivotal focus on R&D, manufacturing, sales and service of automotive intelligent diagnostic tools. Thinkcar is argued to be one of the world’s leading manufacturer of cars and trucks diagnostic tools, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), ADAS calibration, remote diagnostics and services.

THINKCAR has 35 maintenance reset function on THINKCAR diagnostic devices including THINKTOOL Master, THINKTOOL Master x, THINKTOOL Max to mention just a few. This brand has the most reset functions on diagnostic machines. All THINKCAR diagnostic tools are compatible to 220 car brands regardless of the particular product’s functionality. One of the distinctive features of this brand is that both hardware and software are designed and manufactured by the same company which in turn leads to faster processing speeds and has essential storage capacity.

Launch

In the history and development of the aftermarket automotive parts and equipment, the name Launch speaks volumes. Launch is a Chinese company founded in 1992 manufacturing car diagnostic tools, but later in the early 2000s they extended their product range to include workshop equipment such as vehicle lifts and wheel alignment machines.

Launch continues to extend its global reach and today has thirteen companies covering North America, Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East and North Africa, South Africa, China and the Asia Pacific region. Their latest product is a Launch Pro V4.0 diagnostic tool of X431 generation.

Launch products are well known for high brand quality, performance and test data accuracy. It is however important to note that the availability of spare parts is limited and can be quite hard to find, especially for older, discontinued models.
